Welcome to Notetaker! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, Chrome extension, and related services (“Services”). By using our Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Notetaker.
1. Services Provided
Notetaker helps Substack creators analyze content and engagement by:
- Collecting and processing Substack posts, notes, and analytics data that you own or control.
- Generating structured reports (e.g., Excel, PDF) that you can download or view via your dashboard.
- Providing insights based on your subscription tier (Free, Paid, Pro, or Admin).
We may update, enhance, or discontinue features at any time.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Notetaker. By using the Services, you confirm that you have the right and authority to enter into this agreement.
3. Accounts and Authentication
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- Authentication is handled securely through AWS Cognito.
- You agree not to share your login with others or misrepresent your identity.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use Notetaker only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
- Only collect and analyze Substack content you own or are authorized to process.
- Respect usage limits and subscription tiers.
You may not:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, bypass, or misuse the Services.
- Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise system security.
- Use Notetaker for scraping or exporting data from sites other than Substack.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
- Some features require a paid subscription managed via Stripe.
- Subscription fees are billed on a recurring basis as disclosed at checkout.
- You may cancel anytime; refunds are not guaranteed unless required by law.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for nonpayment.
6. Data Handling and Retention
- Files uploaded to Notetaker (HTML, JSON, CSV) are stored temporarily in AWS S3.
- Reports are generated via AWS Lambda and may be stored for up to 30 days.
- After the retention period, files are automatically deleted.

7. Intellectual Property
- You retain ownership of your own content.
- Generated reports and insights are provided for your personal or business use.
- The Notetaker brand, code, and platform remain our intellectual property.
8. Disclaimers
- Notetaker is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, accuracy of insights, or fitness for a particular purpose.
- You use the Services at your own risk.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Notetaker and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months prior to the claim.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms,
- Abuse our Services, or
- Pose a security risk.
You may stop using Notetaker at any time.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted here with the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the new Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
